Yet another road repair funding plan being proposed

LANSING, MI (WTVB) - Michigan Senate Majority Leader Senator Randy Richardville has unveiled his proposal to raise money for roads. It will come straight out of the pockets of drivers. It would raise the wholesale fuel tax from the proposed 6% figure in the House package to 15.5% by 2018, generating $1.3 to $1.5 billion. Some Republicans say they won’t vote for a tax hike. That means Richardville will need help from Democrats. The Democratic leadership say they won’t support it unless they get a higher minimum wage bill, restoration of the earned income tax credit and a vote to revoke the pension tax.

Richardville is pressing for a vote next Tuesday or Wednesday.
