LANSING (WKZO) -- A series of bills aimed at providing more money to fix Michigan's roads is being approved by a Senate committee in Lansing.

The bills add approximately 200-million dollars more to a measure approved by the House of Representatives last week. Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville wants to raise 1.5-billion dollars in new revenue to pay for the roadway repairs.

Lawmakers considered a number of options but decided to raise tax on the wholesale price of gasoline. However, many Democrats oppose the increase and passage of the bill may be difficult.
