LANSING, MI (WTVB) - A $450-million road construction funding plan for Michigan proposed by House Speaker Jase Bolger has been cleared by the two State House committees and sent to the house floor. Transportation Committee Chair Wayne Schmidt says it addresses the issue they are getting beat up on the most...the roads.
Schmidt says he is optimistic that it will be adopted and believes the bills could come up for a vote in the full house today. Governor Snyder proposed finding 1.2-billion for roads using tax and fee hikes, but the idea went nowhere in the legislature. Given the vote in Grand Rapids this week to support local roads with taxes, Governor Snyder says now may be the time to pursue it.
