DETROIT (WKZO) -- Work to repair and restore the crumbling Packard Plant in Detroit is set to begin. According to the facility's new owner, Fernando Palazuelo, starting next week crews will be on site putting up new signs and getting ready for a major overhaul of the property.
Eventually the goal is to convert the former headquarters of Packard Motor Car into a modern mixed use development. Palazuelo hopes to have the property cleaned up enough by September when he wants to host an event featuring the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
Palazuelo won the plant for 405-thousand dollars last year during a Wayne County foreclosure auction.
