Michigan State scored six straight points in overtime and held Iowa to one field goal in the extra period as the sixth-ranked Spartans topped the 12th-rated Hawkeyes, 71-69. Keith Appling scored 16 points and Matt Costello added 11 points and 12 rebounds in the win. MSU trailed by six with under six minutes left, but an Appling three-pointer and back-to-back Costello scores briefly put the Spartans ahead. Roy Devyn Marble led Iowa with 21 points. Michigan State improved to 19-and-2 overall and 8-and-1 in Big Ten play.
