DETROIT (WKZO) -- General Motors CEO Mary Barra has reportedly been asked to sit in the First Lady's Box at the State of the Union address Tuesday night. White House officials announced that Barra has been invited to join the first lady and will be one of several guests.
According to White House officials, those invited to sit in the box "represent the stories of millions of Americans who are working hard to better their communities, improve their own economic outcomes and help restore opportunity for all." Barra's role as CEO of the automaker became effective January 15th.
President Obama's State of the Union Address is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m.
