Dave Matthews Band is looking shake things up for their upcoming annual summer tour.

Dubbed "A Very Special Evening with Dave Matthews Band," the outing -- the itinerary for which was just announced this morning -- will feature electric and acoustic sets by the band in various configurations, including a performance from frontman Dave Matthews and guitarist Tim Reynolds as an acoustic duo. In addition, a number of surprise guests will join the band at select dates throughout the summer.

"I was talking to [drummer] Carter [ Beauford ] about how much I still like just sitting around playing music together. It's how we started -- in the basements of Carter's and my mom's houses," says Matthews in a statement. "Our shows are loose, but we started thinking that maybe this summer we should make them looser and bring some of that feeling to the stage. It seems like the opposite of a safe plan, so why not?"

The North American trek kicks off on May 16 at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in Woodlands, TX, and includes two night-residencies in Saratoga Springs, NY; Camden, NJ; Noblesville, IN; Chicago, IL; Hartford, CT; and West Palm Beach, FL. The band has also scheduled three-night stints at The Greek Theatre in Berkeley, CA, and The Gorge Amphitheatre in George, WA.

Tickets for most shows on the tour will go on sale February 7 at 10 a.m. local venue time.  However, if you're a member of the DMB Warehouse Fan Association, you can score your tix beginning this Thursday at 10 a.m. ET at Warehouse.DaveMatthewsBand.com .  For more information, visit DaveMatthewsBand.com .
