UNDATED (WHTC) -- A murder trial involving the death of a Michigan State Trooper got underway on Tuesday. Trooper Paul Butterfield was shot down last September during a traffic stop. Potential jurors from Mason County were at the courthouse today in Ludington for jury selection. The suspect, 20-year-old Eric Knysz, faces charges of murder of a peace officer, which is punishable by life in prison without parole. Other charges include; felony firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and motor vehicle theft. Knysz’s wife and mother also face charges related to the murder.
