The Tigers opened a seven-game road trip with an extra inning 8-6 win over the Tampa Bay Rays last night. Detroit pushed three runs across the plate in the top of the 11th and Tampa Bay could only score once in the bottom of the inning. Ian Kinsler was 2-for-5 at the plate with an RBI, and six other Tigers batters knocked in runs as well. Starter Max Scherzer got a no-decision, going seven innings while giving up four runs on four hits and striking out nine. Jim Johnson got the win in his first appearance for Detroit, pitching a scoreless tenth inning and Joe Nathan earned his 26th save of the season. Tonight, Rick Porcello gets the nod for the Tigers and the Rays send Jake Odorizzi to the hill.
