DETROIT (WKZO) -- Detroit Police are investigating an allegation that Tigers relief pitcher Evan Reed sexually assaulted a woman at the Motor City Casino hotel the night before Opening Day. According to police, a woman told authorities she met Reed at a Royal Oak bar on March 30th and didn't remember anything until after she woke up later in the hotel room.
The Tigers released a statement Monday night acknowledging the organization is aware of the allegation, but that it would be inappropriate for the club to comment further. Reed's attorney also released a statement saying his client will cooperate with the investigation.
Reed, who is in his second year with Detroit, has not been charged with any crime and is with the Tigers in California as they begin a five-game west coast road trip.
