Soundgarden recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of their breakout album Superunknown , and have commemorated the event -- and their general longevity -- by filming an episode of Guitar Center Sessions .
The Soundgarden installment of the DirectTV series was filmed at the Seattle Guitar Center and features the guys talking about their roots and their journey to success, as well as playing some famous Superunknown riffs and talking shop about guitars. One interesting revelation that comes in the first 60 seconds of the Sessions episode is that all four band members -- Chris Cornell , Kim Thayil , and even bassist Ben Shepherd and drummer Matt Cameron -- were originally drawn to the guitar.
The Soundgarden Guitar Center Sessions is streaming live now on Guitar Center's YouTube channel .
In the realm of retail, Soundgarden will release two deluxe editions of Superunknown , and also a vinyl version. The deluxe editions will include previously-unreleased rehearsal recordings, demos and b-sides, and are set to drop on June 3.
Superunknown debuted at #1 the week it was released and remains Soundgarden's highest-selling album, thanks to what many regard as strong songwriting on tunes like "Black Hole Sun" and "Spoonman," both of which won Grammys.
