HARTFORD TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) - A Michigan man who was fired by Wal-Mart for helping a woman who was being attacked in the store parking lot is rejecting an offer to get his job back. Kristopher Oswald worked nights at a Wal-Mart store in Hartford Township northwest of Detroit. He was fired for violating company policy by intervening in a dangerous situation instead of calling police and alerting store management.
Publicity about the case prompted officials at Wal-Mart's corporate office to offer Oswald his job back. Oswald declined the offer Friday, saying he wouldn't feel safe going back to work. He said he believed the job offer was only a result of the negative publicity Wal-Mart received.
