Tame Impala , Mumford & Sons and Of Monsters and Men are among the nominees for this year’s ARIA Awards , which are the Australian equivalent of the Grammys.
Tame Impala -- who are originally from Australia -- scored two nods at the event, which will take place on December 1 in Sydney. The group’s 2012 album, Lonerism , is up for Best Rock Album, while their Lonerism Tour will compete for the Best Australian Live Act award.
Mumford & Sons and Of Monsters and Men are popular in Australia, but since they’re not actually from Down Under, the groups are only eligible for one category at the ARIA Awards: Best International Artist. Mumford & Sons Grammy-winning album, Babel, and Of Monsters and Men’s My Head Is an Animal , will face off in the Best International Artist category against releases from a number of pop stars, including Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars .
Fans get to vote for the Best International Artist, but unfortunately, you have to be in Australia to do so.
