Last Thursday, Fiona Apple stopped her performance at the Newmark Theater in Portland, Oregon so she could eject a female fan that yelled out, “Fiona! Get healthy! We want to see you in 10 years!” Upset by the comment, Apple replied, “I am healthy! Who the f**k do you think you are? I want you to get the f**k out of here. I want the house lights on so I watch you leave!” Now, the singer has revealed why she was so deeply affected by the outburst about her appearance.
"She hurt my feelings," Apple tells Pitchfork . "I don't think what I look like is relevant. And by the way, this whole "unhealthy' thing has me baffled. And [the heckling] just takes you out of [the live performance]. It's really disappointing. I can't laugh -- I'm an emotional person."
While Apple is sorry for yelling obscenities at the fan, she’s not sorry for kicking her out of her concert. "If you mess with someone when they are in that state, it's like you're messing with an animal when it's eating,” she explains. “I feel bad for calling her a b***h, and I always apologize for anything that I feel bad about, which is usually just reactionary cursing. But otherwise, I have nothing that I feel at all apologetic about from last night.”
