My Morning Jacket to Perform with Alabama Shakes’ Brittany Howard on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon"

My Morning Jacket recently teamed up with Alabama Shakes frontwoman Brittany Howard and Merrill Garbus of tUne-yArDs to lend their talents to Red Hot + Fela , a new album paying homage to late Nigerian musician and songwriter Fela Kuti . The musicians offered their own interpretation of “Trouble Sleep Yanga Wake Am” for the upcoming release, which they'll perform together on NBC's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Friday, October 11.  The program airs at 12:35 a.m. ET/11:35 p.m. CT.

Red Hot + Fela arrives at all the usual outlets on Tuesday, with all proceeds from the release going to help raise awareness of AIDS. Other well-known artists that contributed track to the release include Tunde Adebimpe and Kyp Malone from TV on the Radio , ?uestlove from The Roots , and The Good, The Bad & The Queen / Rocket Juice & the Moon drummer Tony Allen , who was also the drummer and musical director of Kuti's band Africa 70 from 1968 to 1979.
