LANSING, MI (WTVB) - If the gubernatorial election were to be held today, Governor Rick Snyder would easily cruise to a second term based on a poll released this week. The data from Lambert, Edwards & Associates gives Snyder a 45% to 31% lead over likely Democratic opponent and former Battle Creek Congressman Mark Schauer.

Michigan Democratic Party Chair Lon Johnson says it may be too early for such a poll with what he calls a poor track record for the Republican Governor. Perhaps giving Schauer some hope is a comment from pollsters in a statement that Snyder had just 3% support in early polls in 2010 and was just as unknown before being elected.
