Vampire Weekend isn’t a band that’s afraid to take chances with their music.  Frontman Ezra Koenig says that the group’s newly released third album, Modern Vampires of the City , features the guys experimenting with a wider variety of genres and musical styles than they have in the past.

“Nobody listens to just one type of music,” he tells ABC News Radio.  “It’s really hard to imagine making an album where...every song has like all the same elements and the same mood. It’s just kind of natural that the different types of music, different ideas that we have will come together and hopefully make a somewhat diverse album.”

Koenig adds that the massive success of their previous releases allowed the group to have more creative freedom on the tracks for Modern Vampires of the City . “I think in some ways we felt like we could make songs that were stranger than anything we’d done before because we knew that people would give us a chance, and maybe we could put out a song that takes a little while to get under your skin,” he explains.

Vampire Weekend is currently trekking across North America promoting Modern Vampires of the City . The band will also hit a number of festivals this summer including the Sasquatch! Music Festival in George, WA; the Firefly Festival in Dover, DE; Lollapalooza in Chicago, IL; and the Austin City Limits Festival in Austin, TX.  Visit VampireWeekend.com to view the full itinerary.‎
