LANSING, MI (WTVB) - State Representative Sean McCann of Kalamazoo County has introduced legislation that would assign the redrawing of legislative districts to an independent commission.    He says the current politicized system creates oddly shaped districts that benefit the majority party.

Michigan does have some convoluted districts, but isn't as bad as some states, so says Dr. John Clark, chair of the WMU Department of Political Science.  McCann says the process contributes to the bitter partisanship that exists in Lansing and Washington, resulting in a lack of cooperation and compromise.
