LANSING, MI (WHTC) - It was four days beyond the Governor’s deadline, but the Legislature finally has a complete budget on his desk for his signature. The state Senate passed a 33.6 billion-dollar general omnibus spending plan yesterday, funding 17 departments. It came a week after the House had cleared the measure ahead of the recess for the Mackinac Policy Conference. Both chambers had earlier approved the education budget. Rick Snyder has asked for a financial blueprint by June 1st throughout his tenure, saying that school districts and municipalities that begin their fiscal year three months ahead of the state need to know what revenues to expect. The Legislature had reached that deadline the last two years.
