LANSING, MI (WTVB) - A state Senate committee will meet on either July 17th or 18th to discuss Medicaid expansion.Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville says the Senate Governmen tOperations Committee will decide at that time if the workgroup looking for a new version of Medicaid expansion has come up with something that can be formally introduced. The House passed Governor Snyder's Healthy Michigan plan in June, but the Senate adjourned for the summer without a vote. The governor cut a trade mission to Israel short to fly back to Michigan to implore the Senate to take a vote before adjourning, but they did not.
A special session could be convened before the end of the month to take a vote on the matter. The governor says his plan would add nearly a half-million uninsured Michigan residents to Medicaid, giving them needed healthcare coverage.
