DETROIT (WKZO) -- A federal judge has delayed a hearing regarding objections to Detroit’s bankruptcy case.

On Monday, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Steven Rhodes said such challenges could be raised after he decided whether the city is eligible for bankruptcy relief.  Several objections were filed based on arguments that the city wants to slash vested pension benefits in violation of the state constitution.

Rhodes also accelerated the case by moving up the first phase of a trial to decide whether the city is eligible for bankruptcy relief by one month.
