Fewer Michigan children being immunizied

LANSING (WKZO) -- Too few Michigan children are getting their immunizations.  According to the Michigan State Medical Society, children aren’t getting immunized against common diseases and it’s leading to an increase in whooping cough and other illnesses

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, roughly six-percent of Michigan kindergarteners don’t get vaccinated, which was the fourth-highest rate in the nation for the 2012-2013 school year.  Officials say that the state’s lower immunization rate has led to recent outbreaks of pertussis, or whooping cough, and other diseases once considered to be eradicated.
