Detroit pension recipients mixed on property sales

DETROIT (WKZO) -- As the City of Detroit moves through a Chapter 9 bankruptcy filing, some retirees are expressing mixed feelings over what assets should be sold to avoid pensions being cut.

The "Detroit News" reports some retirees are in favor of selling pieces from the Detroit Institute of Arts.  Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr has repeatedly said the 60-thousand piece DIA collection is not for sale.  However, Orr recently hired famed New York City auction house Christie's to appraise the DIA artwork.

Other retirees are in favor of protecting the DIA and say the city should look at selling other property like the Coleman A. Young International Airport to raise funds.
