WASHINGTON, DC (WKZO) -- The Defense Department is cutting the number of furlough days from eleven to six for nearly 650-thousand civilian workers across the country, including almost nine-thousand in Michigan.  The unpaid days off began last month for 8,700 workers across the state, affecting seven-thousand employees at the U.S. Army's Detroit Arsenal and Tank Automotive Command in Warren and another 650 at Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Harrison Township.  The furlough days were put into place because of the federal sequester cuts, which could be repeated when the new fiscal year begins October 1st.
