TOKYO (WKZO) -- It’s a massive recall of over 3.4-million Japanese brand cars that were shipped with a defective air-bag inflator that may fail when you need it most, or worse may actually hurt you.
It’s one of the largest recalls in years, it won’t be an easy or cheap repair, and has already had an impact on stock prices in Tokyo. .
Editor Katie Kerwin at Auto Beat Daily says the defective part was made by the same subcontractor that supplied all of the Japanese automakers, and so it will be up to that subcontractor to make all the replacement parts.
They were installed in vehicles between November 2,000 and March 2004.
