ATLANTA (WKZO) -- Michigan is headed to the NCAA basketball final for the first time since the Fab Five years and they did it despite Trey Burke's worst performance of the season. Burke the AP Player of the Year finished the semi-final with only 7 points and missed key free throws down the stretch as the Wolverines held on for the victory over the Syracuse Orange in Atlanta.
The story of the game was certainly Burke's struggles with the vaunted Syracuse zone but Michigan also got a key performance from Freshman Mitch McGary who has come alive in this NCAA tournament. McGary provided the inside presence Michigan needed to break the zone in the 1st half and finished the game with 10 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 blocks helping to propel the Wolverines into their first NCAA final since 1993.
Michigan takes on Louisville Monday night for the NCAA Championship.
