Hamlin Back Today

by Robb Reel

He absolutely, positively has to be there.

Denny Hamlin will be back behind the wheel of the FedEx Express #11 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing today... at least for a little while.  Hamlin will start the Aaron's 499 when the green flag drops at 1:00 p.m. EDT.  Hamlin suffered a compression fracture in his lower back six weeks ago at the Auto Club 400 in Fontana, Calif.  The start is one week ahead of the scheduled recovery time.  Since the Talladega Superspeedway is the longest track on the Sprint Cup Series, at 2.66 mi., it offers the longest stretch for cautions, allowing ample time for Hamlin to switch out with Brian Vickers.

Here's to hoping for safe and fast racing and a full recovery.
