Prince Fielder returns to defend his 2012 Home Run Derby title at Citi Field

by Dan Cash

It's officially the greatest part of the summer.  During the next few days we'll pretend that the All-Star game Home Run Derby actually means something and scream at the top of our lungs as some of our favorite all-stars participate in a shellacking of a rubber bound ball.  THIS is AMERICA at it's finest.

Earlier this evening ESPN SportsCenter officially unveiled the 2013 Home Run Derby contestants.  Filling out the line-up will be:

I LOVE the Home Run Derby.  I remember watching Mark McGwire (performance enhancing and all) dropping bombs over the Green Monster at Fenway Park or my hometown favorite Prince Fielder coming back as the defending champion.

Home Runs are something all 5-foot-6 inch 2nd baseman like myself can only dream of.  As an 8th grader I remember hitting a single home run and instantly telling my Dad I needed to swing for the fences.  (I was serious)

Full disclosure I haven't hit a homerun since 8th grade.  That's why we love the Home Run Derby.  Very few of us can hit a baseball more than 350 feet...so let's let the professionals sit back and drive the ball on July 15th at Citi Field in New York.
