Easy Swedish Meatballs

When I find something that looks and tastes like you put a lot of effort into it but didn't, it finds a place in the meal arsenal. Such is the case with these Swedish Meatballs. I double the recipe.

3 slices bread, crumbled

1/3 cup milk

1 lb. ground chuck

1 small onion, grated

1/2 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. pepper

dash of ground nutmeg

2 tbs. cooking oil

1 package brown gravy mix

1/2 cup mayonnaise

Add bread to milk. mix in next 5 ingredients and shape into one inch balls. Chill. Brown meatballs in oil in large skillet. Prepare gravy according to directions, using 1 1/4 cup water. Blend in mayonnaise. Add to meatballs and heat for 30 minutes.
